EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

img-universities1Nationwide Security Corporation takes pride in being a part of the Connecticut school system. We presently secure over two hundred educational institutions across the state, including every New Haven Public School, on the elementary, middle, and high school levels.  The number of universities and colleges Nationwide Security Corporation works with has been increasing rapidly since 2007.  We have been widely recognized across the state of Connecticut for effectively securing many schools from the elementary level, through boarding schools, to universities.

We integrate access control, fire protection, intrusion protection, surveillance systems, intercom systems, and doors and hardware to form one complete system.   Buildings that house many computers, expensive equipment and important records require special safety, planning and designs.  Additional security equipment must be used on all doors in these areas.

Every attempt should be made to use cameras to observe all public corridors, stairwells, and exterior doors as well as the cafeteria and gymnasium during school hours and then special attention on off school hours. These cameras are an important addition to securing playgrounds, school bus drop off areas, parking lots and other school grounds. The perimeter of the school property, including the playground, should have no trespassing signs in addition to higher security and students on the playground should be supervised carefully.

Monitoring for an educational institution should be done by both in-house security personnel and an offsite monitoring facility. The offsite facility is primarily for backup and after hour monitoring.

A form of access control and door hardware should be used to monitor those who require an after-hours entrance to certain parts of the building. Access cards, frequently used in hotels and office buildings, are electronically or magnetically encoded to open doors for designated faulty or staff and can monitor and track who entered which rooms and when the entry took place.

Panic buttons, telephones and intercoms are contingents of many school security systems. Schools have installed panic buttons in teachers' desks and use two-way intercoms connected to the school office or a campus security office.

Nationwide Security Corporation is committed to security in any size of educational institution.  Our experience is extensive in this field.  Some recognized educational facilities we have secured are: Southern Connecticut State University, Quinnipiac University, Lyman Hall, every New Haven Public School, including elementary, middle and high school levels, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, upon many more.
